Tim “Timmy” Mislock is a North Carolina–based guitarist, musician, and ambient composer whose work spans solo recordings, international touring, collaborative studio projects, and Broadway.
Originally from Northern Virginia, Tim moved to Brooklyn in 2007, interning at Headgear Studios and performing under the name Abandoned Lighthouse. His work with Holly Miranda and The Antlers became central to his recording and touring life, alongside collaborations with Tegan and Sara. His musical contributions extend to projects by Alanis Morissette, Dave Harrington, Nick Murphy & The Program, Stephen Trask, and John Cameron Mitchell.
Tim’s recording work includes guitar and electronics on Alanis Morissette’s ambient album The Storm Before the Calm and guitar and bass on Nick Murphy & The Program’s Take In the Roses. His featured recordings also include collaborations with Dave Harrington, contributions to music by Holly Miranda and The Antlers, and his remix of Tegan and Sara’s “I Don’t Owe You Anything.”
Onstage, Tim performed guitar and vocals in the Tony Award–winning production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, appearing in nearly 800 performances across Broadway and the first national tour. That chapter also included music with Tits of Clay, connecting his work in theater with the band’s life beyond the production.
Alongside these collaborations, Tim has continued to develop his own approach to ambient composition through layered guitar textures, electronics, and other instruments. His first album released under his own name, Now Is The Last Best Time (2017), explores the emotional experience of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s disease. On Always (2023), which he produced and engineered, that work expands through contributions from Heather Woods Broderick, Kaki King, Stephen Trask, Justin Craig, and Dave Harrington.
After living in New York and Los Angeles, Tim relocated to North Carolina in 2021. In addition to his solo and collaborative recording work, he performs around the Triangle with MISLOCK/PRATT/STACK, an improvisational trio founded with Kelly Pratt and Andy Stack.
